Public bug reported:

Okay, I've found a bug with static IP in Feisty.

During the installation connection failed (it should not work actually,
because no DHCP available). I've changed the values in KDE Control
Center -> Network Manager. Everything worked okay for ~30 seconds, then
the connection was closed. I opened the network manager once again.
There was no tick on 'Start Automatically' and the ip was 169... (like
the private). Okay, I changed the values -> nothing happened. I thought
that it's just a problem while installing OS.

Installation complete. Now I'm in Kubuntu. Same problem. I'm not able to
configure static IP. I've tried KNetworkManager, it tried to detect
settings -> connected with IP 169... hm... changed the
/etc/networks/interfaces, restarted the OS. The interfaces file is now
back to 'auto', but my static settings are
/etc/networks/interfaces.save... chmod 0700 /etc/networks/interfaces
(with static) -> now works okay. No idea where's the problem, but
there's the only way how to change the values.

I'll report more a bit later, trying the apt atm :)
