kio_trash author here. Anyone still having this bug in hardy, please give as many details as possible. Is ~/.local/share/Trash/info empty? (Most descriptions says it is, but let's start from there). If not, who owns the files? Who owns the leftover files and directories in ~/.local/share/Trash/files? For directories, anything inside that is not owned by the current user? It's impossible to delete a root-owned directory that contains root-owned files, that's part of the issue.
If this is not about root-owned files or directories, then I'm suspecting a bug in kio_trash when used from two windows at the same time, possibly.
