Just patched to 2.6.27-11 from proposed and can confirm like Kai that internal speaker appears to be louder (after you set it to 65% and going steadily up to 100%, where you can almost hear the sound from 10 feet away) but the headphone jack has virtually no sound at 100%. I just posted a hardware profile for this new Dell Latitude E6400.
