dodonet, christian is right, 8.04 is supported until April 2011! Christian, could you please try with an Intrepid livecd (or liveusb) and tell us if the issue is actually fixed for you in 8.10? The fix would in this case have to be backported to 8.04... If not, you're having a different issue
