I'm not experiencing this bug anymore, the status was changed to Fix Released, or maybe Committed, after which time I apt-get update / upgrade and I did not experience this error. Using the latest HPLIP package from SourceForge might also work.
If there are any commands I can run in the terminal that would help you diagnose this, please ask.
