Thank you for the bug report. I am able to confirm this behavior.
However, notification area icons are an application-specific issue, and
so individual bug reports should be filed about each application that
exhibits the problem so the bugs can be properly forwarded to their
upstream authors. I'm going to go ahead and mark this one against xchat.
