I can confirm the proposed workaround works in an updated Ubuntu Hardy: >From a terminal window: sudo apt-get install virtualbox-ose-source module-assistant sudo module-assistant auto-install virtualbox-ose-source sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv start
