Thank you much!  I hope the attached file proves useful.

First, I swapped out the rhythmbox-dbg package for the rhythmbox-dbgsym
package . . .  That may have changed the environment significantly.  For
one thing, the program now produces apport reports and automatically
uploads them.  So, perhaps this is now an invalid stream after all.

BTW, the first time I followed the backtrace instructions,
<https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace>, I got to step 3 under the
"Generation" header and pressed Ctrl-C as instructed and gdb exited
abruptly.  Since that didn't seem right, I started again and ignored
step 3.  The attached file is from the second attempt.

Also, since apport is now sending (already sent two lengthy reports)
notifications when rhythmbox crashes occur, that may be the better way
to track the issue . . .  Not really sure.

Thanks to both Pedro and Chris for helping me to collect info that will
hopefully improve Ubuntu!!!
