Dear Savvas: I solved my problem by issuing 2 commands at the terminal which I found on a thread on the Ubuntu forums.
The problem as described in a blog on the web, says that this is being caused by a "coding error" in some of the Ubuntu programming. I also posted that fact and I think the link to that thread on another report of this bug on another bug report about this same problem.
