thank you...i did find the first link (http://www.debianadmin.com/enable-wpa-wireless-access-point-in-ubuntu-linux.html) while awaiting a response and it DID work on the compaq nx6110. i will try the same procedure on the compaq nc6320. still would appreciate any answers as to "why" the intel pro/wireless 2200bg doesn't work unless these additional steps are followed. is this the manufacturer's proprietary setting? thank you, matt
