Public bug reported: Binary package hint: casper
Hi, I have a G4 with a SCSI adapter. Without disk its probing takes time. Output from a boot log: [50.247180] eth0: Link is up at 100 Mbps, full-duplex. [62.526917] scsi0 : Adaptec AIC7XXX EISA/VLB/PCI SCSI HBA DRIVER, Rev 7.0 [62.526927] <Adaptec 3960D Ultra160 SCSI adapter> [62.526932] aic7899: Ultra160 Wide Channel A, SCSI Id=7, 32/253 SCBs [62.526939] [81.654790] scsi1 : Adaptec AIC7XXX EISA/VLB/PCI SCSI HBA DRIVER, Rev 7.0 [81.654800] <Adaptec 3960D Ultra160 SCSI adapter> [81.654806] aic7899: Ultra160 Wide Channel B, SCSI Id=7, 32/253 SCBs [81.654812] [85.575981] PCI: Enabling device 0001:11:04.0 (0010 -> 0012) When booting Feisty herd 1 liveCD it doesn't find the root partition (I'm using an USB stick with quiet and splash removed). Output is something like: [50.247180] eth0: Link is up at 100 Mbps, full-duplex. [62.526917] scsi0 : Adaptec AIC7XXX EISA/VLB/PCI SCSI HBA DRIVER, Rev 7.0 [62.526927] <Adaptec 3960D Ultra160 SCSI adapter> [62.526932] aic7899: Ultra160 Wide Channel A, SCSI Id=7, 32/253 SCBs Error from casper script can't find /var/root whatever, and ouptut of a busybox shell, follow by: [62.526939] [81.654790] scsi1 : Adaptec AIC7XXX EISA/VLB/PCI SCSI HBA DRIVER, Rev 7.0 [81.654800] <Adaptec 3960D Ultra160 SCSI adapter> [81.654806] aic7899: Ultra160 Wide Channel B, SCSI Id=7, 32/253 SCBs [81.654812] [85.575981] PCI: Enabling device 0001:11:04.0 (0010 -> 0012) If I add a disk (there's a smaller timeout in this case) or remove the card, it boots ok. It was working with Edgy liveCD. ** Affects: casper (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- [feisty] herd 1 ppc LiveCD doesn't always boot. https://launchpad.net/bugs/74953 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
