The only way you would be able to get the files in that case would be if you reproduced the install procedure again (with the crash) and uploaded the files from the Live CD before turning off the machine.
To upload the files you need to run firefox from the Live CD session where the installer crashed, isit this page https://bugs.launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/59942 and click on 'Add a comment/attachment' at the bottom of the page. Click Browse and navigate to the requested files in /var/log.
