I'm changing this to confirmed since no one else has.  After research, I have 
determined that 
A) xrdp doesn't come with an X Server.  You must install one.

Apparently the server included with Ubuntu by default wont work.  I'm
not sure the ramifications of adding tightVNC as a dependency to xrdp.
