The output from the command modinfo on my installation suggests there is
a problem with insufficient parameters being supplied to the kernel.

Compare data from a current 8.04.1 Hardy kernel:-

Notice that there are fewer parameters listed in the modinfo from the
2.6.24 kernel.

Is this bug likely to have a common origin with a bug in the snd-ad1816a
module? See http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=844959 for more
information. The error reports are very similar and both drivers were
authored by Massimo Piccioni. Interestingly, the user who reports the
AD1816 bug has an HP Kayak desktop, a similar PC model to the one on
which I am trying to install the AZT1008 soundcard.

It appears Rene Herman has already being working with Bjorn Helgaas to
investigate the snd-ad1816a problems, see http://linux.derkeiler.com
/Mailing-Lists/Kernel/2008-05/msg03119.html and
http://lkml.org/lkml/2008/8/11/303 .

There is also apparently one successful installation of an AZT1008 sound
card using snd-azt2320 under Hardy, described briefly at
http://geekqualizer.blogspot.com/2008/05/getting-sound-on-old-pc-
running-ubuntu.html .
