Public bug reported: I have a Toshiba Tecra M5 laptop with Intel Wireless 3945. I am currently using kernel 2.6.27-9-generic on Intrepid 8.10 with all the lastest update.
I have no problem booting up when I disable the wireless (using the hardware switch). Whenever my wireless switch is on, I will encounter a kernel panic (CAPLOCKS blinking) and I have to force a cold reboot. The last line I can get from the log before the reboot/or where the problem occurs is below, =========== Jan 8 11:54:59 Ephemeral-Dream kernel: [ 35.307486] firmware: requesting iwlwifi-3945-1.ucode =========== However, if I use compat-wireless and wicd combination, the problem goes away however, ntpd have to manual restart and some how my system clock timing went haywire. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Kernel Panic with iwl3945 ucode https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/314961 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
