I have the same problem with german (default) and US English layout. Switching the default or putting one on top doesn't fix it. The '<' and '>' keys are next to the 'y' on the German layout and they work correctly. With the English layout that key should be the backslash, but it is still lesser and greater. The lesser and greater keys are also on 'Shift' plus comma or period, which is correct.
