** Description changed:

I've been having serious issues with the nVidia driver the past day so I
thought I'd go back to using the NV driver until fixed. It turns out
that it's even worse. When the login screen appears I just get a cream
coloured screen with a cursor; I type in my username/password and it
logs in. Then I get white bars at the top and bottom of my screen where
the panels should be, I tried running different things, but I only get a
white window and nothing paints on them. So I'm back using nvidia
despite having a cursor that's an inch square of garbled pixels, and
playing video locks up everything but the cursor. (But I know that's an
issue to report directly to nvidia, and have with no reponse).
