Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: usplash

This is from bug #61711 , since I think it's another issue which should
be reported as another bug which relates with the summary of the bug
itself at least :) So: I've upgraded (i386) an ubuntu dapper 6.06.1 LTS
to ubuntu 6.10. After the upgrade, character consoles cannot be used
anymore: boot is normal, usplash is shown and nice one, however after
booting, consoles are left in some strange video mode, at least only
green pixel bars are shown, so without X the box is unusable. I've also
discovered that in the root directory there's a fifo called
/usplash_fifo. I've never seen a file called this before, though I found
similar file on other machines as well in /dev/.initramfs but not in /.
What can be the problem?
