When asking for support, please include additional information, such as the information you would normally include in a typical bug report. In your case, the make and model of your CPU, motherboard, as well as any other information about the hardware (video card, sound card, etc) that you can provide. For example, you may also want to test and see if the regular Ubuntu LiveCD loads up fine, instead of the alternate install CD. Furthermore, you may also want to mention whether or not you tried checking the MD5 sums of the CD images you downloaded.
