** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: compiz

- When I attach a external display with a resolution larger than the resolution
of my laptop and enable the screen in the screen resolution interface the
desktop size does not change. What happens is that the contents of the screen
of the laptop a show in on the main monitor, but the rest stays black. The
mouse kan move on the black, but the windows can not.
- switching desktop effects on an of fixes the problem. As can be expected the
bug does not occur when desktop effects are disabled.

This happens in a fully up to date Ubuntu 8.10 on a eee 901 which has a
intel 945GME graphics card, but I suspect that is not hardware related.

  PS.

- Maybe this old bug is related. It is mot the same since I do not get a total
black screen.
