** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: hotkey-setup

On my T61p, the brightness keys do pop up the brightness scrollbar and
scroll it properly. Unfortunately, the brightness of the laptop display
is _not_ affected. The T61p has an nvidia Quadro FX 570M, and I have yet
to find a way to turn the brightness up or down once booted into Linux
(usually, the screen is at full brightness, but if I boot the laptop
when it's unplugged, the screen is very dark and there doesn't seem to
be a way to brighten it up without shutting the machine off.
