** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg When selecting the screen resolutions I am presented with two illegal options for my Dell 1703fpt, both of which cause the monitor to flicker. I checked with the monitors spec and it can only support up to 1280x1024 @ 75 hz, however it offers 1400 x 1050 @ 60 and 1600 x 1024. Attached is the xranr output, the xorg.conf, and the monitors.xml m...@desktop:~/.config$ xrandr --prop Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 1600 x 1200 VGA-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) load_detection: 1 (0x00000001) range: (0,1) DVI-0 connected 1280x1024+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 338mm x 270mm EDID_DATA: 00ffffffffffff0010ac11305a4d4241 050e010380221b78ee6f86a25a4d9424 1a4f54a54b00714f8180010101010101 010101010101302a009851002a403070 1300520e1100001e000000ff00325933 313534315641424d5a0a000000fc0044 454c4c203137303346500a20000000fd 00384c1e500e000a20202020202000a5 dvi_monitor_type: auto scaler: off tmds_pll: bios load_detection: 0 (0x00000000) range: (0,1) 1280x1024 60.0 + 75.0* 60.0 60.0 1600x1024 60.2 1400x1050 60.0 1440x900 59.9 1280x960 60.0 1360x768 59.8 1152x864 75.0 75.0 75.0 70.0 60.0 1024x768 75.1 75.0 70.1 60.0 832x624 74.6 800x600 72.2 75.0 60.3 56.2 640x480 75.0 72.8 75.0 60.0 59.9 720x400 70.1 S-video disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) tv_standard: ntsc tv_vertical_position: 0 (0x00000000) range: (-5,5) tv_horizontal_position: 0 (0x00000000) range: (-5,5) tv_horizontal_size: 0 (0x00000000) range: (-5,5) load_detection: 0 (0x00000000) range: (0,1) m...@desktop:~/.config$ cat monitors.xml <monitors version="1"> <configuration> <clone>no</clone> <output name="VGA-0"> </output> <output name="S-video"> </output> <output name="DVI-0"> <vendor>DEL</vendor> <product>0x3011</product> <serial>0x41424d5a</serial> <width>1280</width> <height>1024</height> <rate>75</rate> <x>0</x> <y>0</y> <rotation>normal</rotation> <reflect_x>no</reflect_x> <reflect_y>no</reflect_y> </output> </configuration> </monitors> m...@desktop:/etc/X11$ cat xorg.conf # xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file) # # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using # values from the debconf database. # # Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page. # (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.) # # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only* # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg # package. # # Note that some configuration settings that could be done previously # in this file, now are automatically configured by the server and settings # here are ignored. # # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated # again, run the following command: # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg Section "Device" Identifier "Configured Video Device" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "Configured Monitor" EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Default Screen" Monitor "Configured Monitor" Device "Configured Video Device" EndSection ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.10 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx Package: xorg 1:7.4~5ubuntu3 ProcEnviron: PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersion: Linux version 2.6.27-7-generic (bui...@rothera) (gcc version 4.3.2 (Ubuntu 4.3.2-1ubuntu10) ) #1 SMP Fri Oct 24 06:42:44 UTC 2008 SourcePackage: xorg Uname: Linux 2.6.27-7-generic i686 xkbcomp: + [lspci] + 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation 82875P/E7210 Memory Controller Hub [8086:2578] (rev 02) + Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:0157] + 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon R350 [Radeon 9800 Pro] [1002:4e48] + Subsystem: ATI Technologies Inc Device [1002:1002]
