** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-s3virge I was running 8.04 on my box and everything was fine. I upgraded to 8.10 and kept the same xorg.conf (see attached). After moving to 8.10, my box would lock when X was starting (couldn't even CTRL+ALT+Backspace). I removed the nvidia components of the xorg.conf nothing changed. I removed the s3virge components of the xorg.conf and the nvidia stuff started working. - Long story short, even a basic s3virge xorg.conf without any mention of - anything else locks my box. It works fine on the live cd (using - whatever driver the livecd uses (vesa?)). + Long story short, even a basic s3virge xorg.conf without any mention of anything else locks my box.
