Dan - Thank you for this information which I will keep on file should I ever attempt 8.1 again. I cleared 8.1 from both computers and reinstalled 8.04, keep it updated, and am very satisfied with its operation. I don't know what advantages there are to 8.1, but after the unfortunate experiences I've had with it, I'm reluctant to try it again.
Thanks again, DrJimM - --- On Sat, 1/17/09, Dan Trevino <dantrev...@gmail.com> wrote: From: Dan Trevino <dantrev...@gmail.com> Subject: [Bug 292711] Re: errors when burning 8.1 iso file to CD To: drj...@cp-tel.net Date: Saturday, January 17, 2009, 7:08 PM Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu. While we appreciate the difficulties you are facing, it would appear that the CD image (ISO file) you downloaded could be corrupt. There is an easy way to verify the integrity of the Ubuntu ISO files you download. Could you please visit https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM follow the instructions and report back as to whether or not the MD5SUM verified?
