Hi Chris,

I`ll give the link listed below and see what I can do to resolve the problem.
I have gone to the
motherboard manufacture site- ECS- to see if I can/could determine how to
disable the onboard
sound. I did find where there are two jumpers attached to the sound
schematic. I have taken those
off the pins.
I can tell you I put the CT4830 sound card back on the motherboard and was able
to hear a CD that
I popped into the DVD drive. (However, I didn`t even try this previously) I
got sound out of the
speaker connected to the sound card. Even after doing this, I cannot get any
sound from watching
internet news video (where there is supposed to be sound), Also, I go to web
site- www.cfox.com
and try to play their LIVE sound, which you`d see if you went to that site.
That doesn`t work either.
Basically no sound comes out of the speaker from any internet type sound
source. Also, I don `t
get any Ubuntu startup sound (if there are supposed to be any) etc. Nothing.

This is the ECS - model L7MM2 ver 1.0 motherboard web site-

 ECS Web Site

I`m not sure yet if I have any Ubuntu LoCo teams near me. I`ll have to check
out
that link below and review.

Right now, I by going into the Debugging link you provided and see where
that will lead me. Thank you for your assistance.
Without the sound, it doesn`t make my switching to Ubuntu very good.

I`ll continue to try to get the sound going. If anything I said to you above
jogs
your mind as to what `else` could be the problem, let me know. I have found
that the settings parameters under SYSTEM - Preferences - sound are confusing

I shall talk to you later.
Regards,
Allan

Subject: [Bug 316244] Re: Unable to hear any sound from Sound Blaster Live
CT4830 Sound Card- I have NO sound on this system at present.

First off Allan, please click on the bug hyperlink on the bottom of each
e-mail you get from Launchpad, then open the link in the browser of your
choice. Scroll down and you will see "Add a comment/attachment"
dropdown/hyperlink, so that you can make comments and reply without
including the entire message everytime. Thanks for submitting your
reply, I would like to help you fix this card, but we need to narrow
down exactly what is causing this issue.

Can you see if you're able to get anywhere by trying the steps found
here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems ?

It sounds like you might be having more issues then just sound. Do you
have any Ubuntu LoCo teams https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoTeamList near
you? Or a Lug (linux users group) perhaps where you can get someone to
help you troubleshoot a bit?
