Ok, sorry, I spoke too soon. Only about a third of the DVDs automount. I thought it might be a problem with DVD regions, so I downloaded regionset and set the DVD player to region 1 ( I bought my DVDs in the US and the DVD drive was obtained in Canada), but this did not fix the problem, so maybe the ubuntu bug is still persisting in this case.
