I should mention what I was doing when the crash occurred. I had just opened OpenOffice development version 37 (the current one) and had attempted to start a database, which requires java. I didn't have java installed, and it gave me the error message, but suddenly I lost my custom wallpaper. Last time this happened I also lost the contents of my desktop folder, and some other stuff.
