Would it be possible for you to collect a full backtrace when running
xnest this way?  That could give us some clues as to where it is
crashing exactly, and why.  There is some info on getting full
backtraces from the xserver at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Backtracing.  It
doesn't address xnest in particular, but hopefully it gives enough
guidance you can sort it out?  Thanks ahead of time.
