Public bug reported:

Performed a fresh installation of Edgy from Alternate CD. Setup using
LVM and a LV for /, an LV for /home and another LV for swap. Formatted
with Ext3 default settings.

This is done on a Sony Vaio VGN-FS115E.

After the GRUB menu the computer appears to freeze (no activity), nothing shown
on F1 etc. Rebooting without the kernel command "splash" in GRUB showed that
the computer paused at:
"ACPI: Getting CPU index for acpiid 0x1"

after about half a minute the computer then resumes activating the
volume groups etc.

This behaviour was not apparent on installs of Breezy Badger and Dapper
Drake.
