I logged a bug for Jaunty about this, then found a temporary fix at
least. I found that If I searched the repositories using synaptic for
all nvidia drivers I found many versions but I needed nvidia-glx-180-dev
package. I installed it, ran the hardware driver gui again and bingo it
loaded the correct driver up, and activated it.

I presume that by the time April comes the GUI will simply find it in
the repositories. (I don't know anything about the code running the GUI
but maybe that's what will happen)

so go have a look to see what Nvidia-glx versions you have and install
the appropriate ones. The re run the hardware driver tool
