I've done both, boot from /dev/sda10 which was set up to boot as a live image
from the iso, and also from writing a CD and booting from an actual CD Rom.?
Both got the same failure, at least produced the same? visible error message.?
I can write an actual CD with the latest build tomorrow and try again.? The
Compaq will boot from USB however I haven't tried install on that to see if it
gets the same failure or not; if it would be informative I could try.

Thanks, Jerry

Subject: [Bug 318485] Re: jaunty Xubuntu Alpha 3 manual install fails

Can you tell me about the contents of /dev/sda10? It appears that that
is the device that's actually mounted on /cdrom (or at least that is my
best guess). Did you write a CD image directly to that partition at some
point?
