I have the same problem. Same laptop, same network card, Ubuntu 8.10. I tend to do upgrades immediately, yesterday morning networking wouldn't work, apparently because of upgrades I did on Wednesday. Turns out to be the kernel upgrade, if I start the computer with kernel ...27-7 al is well.
What I found peculiar is that when I provided a static ip address, the network card would say "connected to network" while there still was no connection to other computers. dhcp would not get a lease. -- RTL8101E/RTL8102E not functioning under 2.6.27-11-generic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/322916 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
