Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

I've seen this a few times in the past few days. Pidgin reports an
error that it can't save a log file, or gives an error when I try to
click on a link:

Error launching "xdg-open 'http://www.example.com'": Failed to
create pipe for communicating with child process (Too many open files)

After restarting Pidgin it behaves normally? It's only happened a few
times so I'm not sure I can reproduce it.

** Affects: pidgin (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
