Turning back to 96dpi does not seem to alter the display. Here is xrandr output when the 2 screens are already working properly: $ xrandr --verbose --output TMDS-1 --auto --output LVDS --auto --below TMDS-1 crtc 0: 1680x1050 59.9 +0+0 "TMDS-1" crtc 1: 1280x800 59.9 +0+1050 "LVDS"
