Screen corruption hasn't quite gone away it seems. When the screensaver
kicks in again, it displays properly on the bottom 20% of the screen,
but the desktop is still on top on the top 80%.

The bottom gnome-toolbar shows over the screensaver as well.

Mouse movement stopped the screensaver this time, but the top 80% of the
screen is frozen: moving windows will appear in bottom part but not
refresh on most of the screen.

Sorry all this is so vague.
