Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libsane

Whan starting xsane, it crashes with the following popup error:

Failed to open device 'v4l:/dev/video0':
Invalid argument.

This is on an Advent 4211 which I believe is an MSI Wind clone.
Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid OS.

The error happens even if I have no scanner attached. I think the problem is
actually the built-in web-cam.
scanimage -L reports:
device `v4l:/dev/video0' is a Noname USB 2.0 Camera virtual device
and lsusb reports:
Bus 005 Device 003: ID 0c45:62c0 Microdia Pavilion Webcam

I have discovered that I can get rid of the error message by commenting
out the line /dev/video0 in the file /etc/sane.d/v4l.conf.

** Affects: sane-backends (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
