I ran into this problem as well. Using a 8.10 Live CD, I booted up Xubuntu and installed dmraid. I went to manual, and tried to install to two partitions (/ and swap) on my stripe. Ubiquity failed with this error repeatedly (and I've reported it at least once.)
I went into Advanced (on the last step) and told it not to install a bootloader and it completed.
