I have a similar problem in OO3 Impress. I am going to start using Openoffice in Ubuntu instead of MS Powerpoint. In windows, the formula is written using Mathtype. When I open *.ppt in OpenOffice.org 3 Impress containing Mathtype formula, they are just mess up. I am attaching a minimal example of *.ppt.
