grub 0.97-2 must have been a dapper or edgy version. (Perhaps an update to dapper?) Based on packages.ubuntu.com, dapper uses 0.97-1, while gutsy uses 0.97-29, and of course later releases use later versions of grub. (Edgy and feisty are no longer supported)
I'm just trying to get a handle on the scope of this issue. Is this issue peculiar to Dapper (which is still supported on the desktop through June 2009 and on server through June 2011)?
