An easier solution, if your FF3 is updated to current, is to type "about:config" in a blank tab. Click OK to the scary message. Type tool in the filter line.
You will find the below one ending in false. click on the line to change to true. This is not a FF problem but they found a fix for it and it is an easy one for Hardy and Intrepid.
