This package builds just fine for jaunty on all architectures. I have built this package for Jaunty in my ppa: https://launchpad.net/~jsmidt/+archive/ppa. You can check out the source https://launchpad.net/%7Ejsmidt/+archive/ppa/+files/gwyddion_2.13-0ubuntu1.dsc.
