This is a grub bug, I believe. I have installed Ibex AMD64 Alternate on a Dell Optiplex 320 here. The installation was fine. When I reboot, it hangs. I assumed at first it was a wonky ACPI implementation and tried various versions of pci=bios pci=nomsi noapic apm=off acpi=off I was getting NO output at all so I dropped to a grub command line
Tried: root (hd0,0) kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.27-7-generic root=/dev/mapper/calvinvg-root apm=off acpi=off pci=bios Once I hit enter on the line above, the machine hung and the display flickers. You can read some of the previous grub output on the screen between flickers.
