** Description changed: Whenever I try to burn a data DVD disc, k3b uses auto to set speed and I must manually set it to 12x or k3b does not try to write disc. I have the latest firware in drive (1.11 I believe), but I have always had problems with burning dvd's with this drive. Not that the drive may be malfuctioning, but that it is ALWAYS been slow burning dvds. I read somewhere a long time ago that plextor doesn't like the idea of free software, but don't know how valid it was. It takes me 20-30 mins to burn a data DVD (dvd5-4.4gigs). On Maxtor 16x dvd5 media.
