I also have this problem with my 7600gt. I can confirm that choosing another theme than human or human-clearlooks fixes this (I'm currently using clearlooks). Going by the other posts this problem only affects Nvida GeForce 6 and 7 series. According to Wikipedia GeForce 7 is an "upgrade" of GeForce 6: "The design was a refined version of GeForce 6, with the major improvements being a widened pipeline and an increase in clock speed." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce) GeForce 8 on the other hand was a brand new arcitechture, this would explain why this only seems to happen with 6 and 7.
