Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-headers-2.6.27-12

Hi. I've Kubuntu 8.10 64bit, freshly installed (no upgrade from previous
version). I have kde 4.1.4.
My machine is a laptop, dell xps m1530.
No external drivers, the only driver I'm using is Nvidia 180.22 installed
manually running the package from the Nvidia website.
I've just update my kernel from 2.6.27-11 to 2.6.27-12 as Adept have notified
me...and now when I reboot I have this problem: after a quick loading of the
kubuntu logo, on the black screen appears something like this:

*Checking battery state...
/dev/xxx:
setting Advanced Power Management level to 0xfe (254)

then nothing. Just ctrl+alt+del (it remember me of windows...) and reboot with
the old kernel, luckily I still have it.
I really can't understand why they update so often the kernel when there is the
risk (real, as seen) to have an unbootable system after an update. I think of
the normal-medium user who want to try linux as a stable system. I think this
is quite worrying.
Thank you
