Many thanks.
Checked Tools->Options->Language
Settings->Writing Aids->OpenOffice.org New Thesaurus->Edit

Shows installed but still not accessible from Tools->Language->Thesaurus
Shows as greyed out

Perhaps I should reload and see if that cures the problem.
