Subject: [Bug 331672] Re: help menu not updated or incorrect

Thanks for reporting this bug but from the point of view of the
documentation team, this is a duplicate of several other bugs which will
be addressed in the next release of he Internet documentation.

The Huawei modem is not a wireless device but a Mobile Broadband Device,
this specific device tends to be misconfigured due to a small area of
USB storage causing HAL to identify it as a USB Mass Storage Device.

There is a thread in the forums that may help
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=1776667

Status in “ubuntu-docs” source package in Ubuntu: Incomplete

Bug description:
I'm newbie to ubuntu 8.10.I'm using Huawei EC325 cdma modem with Win XP.I want
to use it with Ubuntu.Ubuntu identifies the modem and configure it.But network
is disabled as from the network icon in the top right corner of the window.
Huawei uses a window to connect the modem. From the inbuilt help menu suggests
to enable network connection system > adminstration >
network to
get the connection properties and enable network connection. But from Ubuntu8.10
there is system > adminstration > network options only available.Relevant
trouble shooting hints are
reproduced here.
(3.3.1. Check that the device is on

1. Many wireless network devices can be turned on or off. Check to see if there
is a hardware switch, some devices can be switched off from Windows and may
need to be turned back on from Windows.
2. If it is turned on then see Section 3.3.2 ― Check for device recognition.

How to enable or connect Huawei modem and how to access network connection
properties were no where mentioned.Help menu maybe clear and exaustive .Please
fix the bug and help me.
