Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.28-8-generic

I'm trying to enable netconsole logging on my 9.04 install. I can't use
a serial console as it is a laptop without one.

I edited
/etc/initramfs-tools/modules

to include the netconsole module, it shows up when I dump the contents
of the initramfs image. I also have a netconsole= line in grub which
should work, and tested the same port settings with netcat.

It appears that the problem is netconsole isn't being loaded. However I
can find no way of specifying the module to load at initrd time short of
rolling my own initrd, which isn't very helpful for testing the real
one.

Netconsole should either be static or the initrd should have a way of
loading modules based upon some configuration.

Further, configuring the netconsole settings in /etc/initramfs-
tools/modules is -far- from idea as there are multiple locations I'll be
using my laptop and only in one will I want to spew out netconsole
information.
