Michael, the grep stalled for me at "grep: /lib/udev/devices/ppp: No such device or address", the following works better: $ find /lib/udev /etc/udev -type f | xargs grep -i watch
For me, "watch" is used in /lib/udev/rules.d/65-dmsetup.rules, too (package dmsetup).
