Public bug reported:

Running Jaunty, 2.6.28-8-generic.  I have never had a problem with my
sound card until some update a day or two ago.  Trying 2.6.28-7 did not
work either.

Here is the output of the ALSA  script.

All playback channels are unmuted in alsamixer.  I have tried ALSA, OSS,
and ESD, and both speakers and headphones.
